When should I take my photos?
The best time to photograph your beautiful baby bump is at the end of your second trimester, or early beginning of your third trimester. Generally the best time can range from 30-34 weeks. You don’t want to wait too late in your pregnancy to schedule maternity photos because sometimes babies can arrive early or you can be very swollen at the end of the third trimester.
What should I wear?
I encourage my moms to wear a long, flowing dress or skirt. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful and confident. A maxi dress with a train or a form fitting dress are also good options. Try to keep it simple with minimal patterns to keep it classy, elegant and timeless.
Some of my favorite places to get dresses are Baltic Born, Lulus, Shein, PinkBlush, A Pea in a Pod, Hatch and Joyfolie.
How do I dress the rest of my family for Maternity Photos?
Planning your Maternity Session outfits is much like planning for a regular sessions. Dress in a complimentary color palette without matching perfectly. Pick a color scheme or color and implement it throughout your outfits. Wear solid, neutral palettes such as white, gray, cream, beige, soft pastels, khaki and other neutral earth tones. Keep the patterns to a minimum.
Dressing dads and little boys is the easy part. They can typically wear khaki pants with a white, grey, or navy shirt and brown shoes. Try to avoid tennis shoes for anyone in the family.
How do I pose for Maternity Photos?
Posing for maternity photos is super simple! You really only need to remember two tips- First, hold your belly, and second, bend the knee closest to the camera.
You can hold your belly two ways: both hands holding the bottom of your tummy, and one hand holding the bottom and one hand holding the top. I will handle the rest during your session!
You will get a variety of different poses and groupings during your session. I will photograph you individually, with your spouse, and with the whole family (if you already have little ones!)
I encourage you to relax, interact naturally with your family, and have fun!
