Over the last several months, I have been compiling the most common questions that people email or ask me, and though this would be a great way to answer many of them!
What’s your Style?
I like to consider my style a mixture of candid and posed photos. I understand that classic shots with everyone looking at the camera is a priority, but I love capturing the everyday moments! I like to note that, when my clients ask me to get candid shots, those aren’t posed. I will capture those naturally, so interacting with your family in a natural way is super important! Showing me pinterest shots really do me no good, because those aren’t candid in your current session. I like to see the fleeting moments- the way mom and dad steal glances of love, kids giggling or a toddler with their mischievous stares.
Where do you Shoot?
Although I have a studio for the winter months, in the spring, summer and fall I prefer outdoors if possible. I primarily photograph in the Dell Rapids area (the locations here are super unique and absolutely beautiful, and unlike anything you will find in our nearest cities) but I also travel to Mitchell, Sioux Falls, Brookings and surrounding areas.
What should we wear?
There are tons of tips and tricks on this blog, but in short, it’s important to wear what you are most comfortable in. Don’t match, coordinate! Stay away from neon, logos, too baggy or too tight. Avoid clothing that requires a lot of maintenance in your photo shoot, and avoid multiple outfits. Avoid white, however if you love yourself in white try to go ivory. Avoid overly saturated clothing, colors that are too bright, etc.
How do I become more photogenic?
This is probably the number one comment I hear from clients when I show up to a shoot. My best advice is to relax!! This never turns out to be true, my job is to help you feel comfortable, and I have some great ideas to make this happen. You will forget all about being photogenic because our shoot will be super fun and you will feel at ease!
Do you offer Digital Files?
Yes. I do. I know that this is super important to my clients, so I do offer digital files. Check our investment page to learn more!
How long does it take to get our images back?
My normal turnaround time is two weeks after your session date. However, with that being said, an additional one to two weeks may be required during busy seasons such as fall and Christmas! We strive to stick around the 2-3 mark, but we ask our clients to book early in the busy seasons!
How do we reach you?
In this advanced technological age, I am aware that there are multiple avenues to reach people, such as facebook, instagram, email, phone, messengers, phone, etc. I like to direct my clients to email me. That is my preferred method of contact. I check my email Monday – Friday. I respond within 1-2 business days, unless there is a holiday or I am out of the office. Busy seasons may experience a delay. Unfortunatly, facebook messaging, texting, etc is unreliable, and I don’t always have my resources available to answer questions or book sessions on the go. However when I check my email, I am prepare to answer questions, book sessions, upload galleries, etc.
